Welcome to KathrynQuilts!

About Kathy Klassen

Kathy Klassen's quilting career spans 30 years.  It is possible that quilting is in her genes, given her Mennonite heritage.  A lifetime of quilting began with making quilts for family and friends.  A full time career in fabric arts has evolved from these beginnings.  She creates commissioned quilts, hand dyes fabric, and exhibits and speaks at quilting shows and events.  Kathy is a patient and inspiring teacher who loves to make learning fun.  When she is not busy teaching workshops and classes she also works on machine quilting contracts.

Kathy Klassen's quilts have been exhibited at solo and group shows on Vancouver Island, and in a solo show in Winnipeg.  Commissioned quilts hang throughout Canada, USA, Europe, and Australasia.

Kathy's special talent is to analyse a quilting design, simplify the method and teach it in a workshop or a series of workshop classes.  Some of these lessons have also been developed into patterns.

Kathy's studio is located at her home in Black Creek, in BC's Comox Valley midway between Courtenay and Campbell River.  This studio, located in a park-like setting, is where she teaches many of her quilting workshops.  It is also the ideal site for quilting retreats, which include food, accommodation and space to work on your projects.  Kathy will provide instructional workshops at retreats if desired.

Kathy teaches her workshop in a variety of other venues including quilt shops, guilds and shows.  Kathy is also available for trunk shows and speaking engagements.  Check out her schedule to learn more about upcoming events.
